THE SACRED LANDSCAPE OF ANCIENT EGYPT STUDY TOUR

(This tour is designed for returning travelers to Egypt and will highlight select monuments in Saqqara, Giza and Luxor only)

Dec 15: THE BEGINNING OF OUR WINTER SOLSTICE THEMED TOUR - Leave Washington, Dulles via EgyptAir jet service to Cairo. Meals will be served on board.

Dec 16: INTO THE LAND OF THE PHARAOHS - Arrival in Cairo. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. 

Dec 17: THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM – This morning visit to the Egyptian Museum which contains the world's collection of Egyptian antiquities, dating from the earliest times to the 6th century AD. The collection includes some of the artistic masterpieces of the world, including the treasures of Tut- Ankh-Amun. Return to hotel. Evening Lecture.

Dec 18: SAKKARA/GIZA/LUXOR - Morning tour to Sakkara. Sakkara's Step Pyramid is the  oldest in existence and is the world's first stone building. We will visit the newly opened tombs beneath the Step Pyramid then proceed to Giza. Tour the pyramids of Khufu, Khafra and Menkara and Heremakhet (the Sphinx). Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. 

Dec 19: KARNAK AND LUXOR TEMPLES PRE SOLSTICE VISIT - Visit Ipet Isut and the Southern Ipet before the crowds arrive for the Solstice celebrations. View the gorgeous Hypostyle Hall, the tekhenu (obelisks) of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Sacred Lake. Continue to the newly open Avenue of Sphinxes and the Southern Ipet (Temple of Luxor) and for a later morning tour.
Return to your hotel for dinner. Evening Lecture.

Dec 20: WASET WEST BANK PT. 1 /VALLEY OF THE KINGS, QUEENS AND NOBLES/ COLOSSI OF MEMNON - Morning drive to the Necropolis on the West Bank. Visit royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens and the Temple of Hatshepsut. Return to your hotel for dinner.
Evening Lecture.

Dec 21: WINTER SOLSTICE SUNRISE AT IPET ISUT (KARNAK) & VISIT THE SOUTHERN IPET (LUXOR) TEMPLE - Participate in the Winter Solstice Sunrise Festivities at Ipet Isut (Karnak) then return to your hotel for lunch and dinner. Evening Lecture.

Dec 22: WASET WEST BANK PT. 2  DEIR EL MEDINA, RAMESSEUM & MEDINET HABU - Visiting other Mortuary Temples. Return to your hotel in Luxor for lunch and dinner. Evening Lecture.

Dec 23: LUXOR / CAIRO / WASHINGTON, DULLES – Morning at leisure. Transfer to the airport in time for your return flight home via Cairo.

Dec 24: WASHINGTON, DULLES - Arrive at Washington, Dulles Airport at 5:10 AM EST the same day.
